What are some of the movies that have changed your life? Perhaps movies that have changed your perception of reality?

I'm hoping to expand my mind through a good movie. Looking for movie suggestions that left you feeling changed. Movie suggestions that are thought provoking.

B grade by today's standards and out of era by 30 years and most will not know the culture of the times and the sub culture that use to be in my country. Bloodsong, a disparity between the old and the new can still affect a people centuries afterward.

Feb 3 2013: That movie depicts a time i remember or elements of it but in this era, today, very different. We have my cousins,Pacific islanders mixing and their is a marked difference from the islander immigrant and their children. A massive cultural divide between parent and child as opposed to my people who had incoming colonists two centuries ago. It's a very different country from my perspective, changing very fast.

That movie brought out something most did not want to see.

Feb 2 2013: I don't know if one movie has changed my mind. I would say overall it's the whole body of movies you watch, and even the fact that you can watch a movie, that movies are such a marvelous invention.

For a "trippy" movie I recall "The Last Wave," possibly with Richard Chamberlain. I found "E.T." thrilling.

Feb 3 2013: Kamal Hassan's Vishwaroopam- An Indian Movie. The release of this movie has been forestalled in certain parts because it dealt with some apparently sensitive issues . It raised protests from various religious groups. But all the movie did was portray them in a poignant manner. This movie has created a maelstrom in India. It brings into sharp focus the reality that even now in this modern age, certain topics are considered taboo to discuss and also showcases how politicians and other groups use the opportunity to twist a hapless film maker for their 5 minutes of fame.

Feb 3 2013: Young Einstein. I thought that I was too stupid to understand relativity until I saw that movie. Now I see how foolish I was to judge myself so harshly. I became excited about science. And it was a funny movie.
  • Feb 3 2013: I forgot Blade Runner for some reasons it's among my favorites. I even read the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep which was very different than the movie with Rutger Haur who I always enjoy.
