Help with ADHD?
I was diagnosed with ADHD late in life, while struggling through and trying to fight it just can''t afford to quit or lose another job. I am very open minded and wish to learn as much as I can about everything but this memory of mine and lack of focus won't allow it. Please at least. point me in the right direction.

Okay I had to do something else after I went as far as I could. I tend to try to solve problems. Maybe you don't have a problem. Follow your bliss and find a real Mark job. Be happy and Godspeed. That's all I am trying to say.

" Please don’t get me wrong binaural works, it will take time but it works. NLP well I love NLP but the fact that I can’t retain what I read or listen to sometimes do help that. Meds who doesn’t like Meds if I can remember to take them LOL"
I understand exactly what you are saying, without a doubt but all I wanted was to hear what you are about to say...the real answers....

Well free is always good sorry I lied on that last sentence, but you get what I’m trying to say. I guess I want to turn my brain in to a super computer at any cost. If science has proven to know how the brain fires all its neurons and receptors, modalities and so forth. Well I’m a guinipig and wish to be used as a computer, anything is better than what I am presently going through. Please don’t get me wrong binaural works, it will take time but it works. NLP well I love NLP but the fact that I can’t retain what I read or listen to sometimes do help that. Meds who doesn’t like Meds if I can remember to take them LOL
I really appreciate the way you all have pointed me in directions thank you and I am very grateful that in the past few hours I got more help on TED then in 10 years. Spending so much money and waiting to see psychologists, telling them what Meds I should take. If I had TED 10 years ago I would have been fixed within months or upgraded at the least. Am I rambling sorry I get that way sometimes hey I stayed focused enough to write three paragraphs. I guess I’ll stick to the Binaural, NLP, and Meds and keep on this journey…… Thanks

For example, if you can play video games for hours without stopping, maybe that should lead you to a career
choice.
Stop fighting it or medicating it or trying to get your brain to fire differently. It's a gift and very valuable if you learn how to use it correctly. I tell people my brain does not work like other peoples. It does a lot of things at once. And at my age, I have yet to even finish a book I hated let alone remember it. Good luck on your journey.

Sorry I'm not buying. Try to explain your predicament to a starving child in a third world country or someone with terminal cancer or a soldier with half of his limbs blown off to protect the freedom that you casually discard. Get over it and deal with it.

with all due respect diagnosis=funds your right but I still fight every day and work hard but I want to fix my way of learning to learn why what I learned won't stick and relearn seems to be the thing to do....

That statement does not indicate that you are fighting?
If you are for real private email me, I have some Real answers to this problem.

Here is the main point I want to make. BE YOUR OWN ADVISER. The hell with the psychobabble. Only recently did I realize that I do not have a learning disability, I had this "diagnosis" stuck in my head for 4 decades. Be careful what you accept as fact.
In fact I am very smart as far as I know, sometimes I think I am almost as smart as John Smith.
Here is what you can do about it. They are saying you have an "attention disorder" first screw what they think. What do you think???
Concentration is a good skill that is acquired and is a major factor in sucess. IF two athletes are competing the one with better concentration will win. Business is the same deal, a profession, an artist, a tradesman, a student.
I and many call this being in the present, the zone, now.
When it comes to study the area that will cause you the most grief is not understanding or misunderstanding the terminology. FIND OUT where you last understood the area that you are having trouble with just at the tail end of where you were doing well is where you misunderstood a word regarding what you are studying.
Loose the crutch it is bullshit. The only person that can fix this is YOU.
Private email me and I will give you some pointers.

The job is key. Most of the men in my family do manual work like fix cars and motorcycles or cargo. These tasks do not require a mental focus like accounting would. The accomplishment is the reward and you have to keep at it to learn that.
Medication does help but most of us cannot deal with the side effects. They can be terrible.
There are all sorts of support available and many have helpful tips for organizing in your specific area. So some help organize finances, others help organize work space, others help organize how you do your work. One thing that has helped several people in my family is headphones. Music, or audio books seem to help them stay focused on a task.
Completing a task is the hardest thing. I have learned not to have more than three projects going or they don't get done. It takes practice to learn how to manage and organize so don't expect a quick fix. You have to learn what works for you, not what works for other people that is why it is important to try new things and discard what does not work.
The other thing you need to know is how valuable having ADHD is. Yes it does interfere with modern western lifestyle but it is great. You will tend to be ahead in your thinking, way ahead of most of those who surround you. They think linear and we do not. They have to do one thing, complete it, and move to the next thing. Drives me batty but it's how they work. We can see behind, jump ahead, ump to the side, and see from above all at the same time so our priorities shift faster than most peoples. There is nothing wrong with that.
With practice you will be able to manage and have a great and wonderful life. Trust me on this

You may find it difficult because of the ADHD, so consider starting with training wheels. Use binaural beats. You must listen to them with STEREO headset, and when the thought try to distract you, if you can't ignore them, just focus on the tone.
There are several types of meditation, but the one you are looking for is the one where you sit comfortably (no lotus position required) and relax into yourself. Let your thoughts go (the goal is to not think). Do this 20 mins 2ce/day for the rest of your life. You will be transformed.
Meditation reduces activity in the amygdala (fear/anxiety center) of the brain. It is responsible for impulsive actions. At the same time it increases activity in the frontal cortex (executive center) that is responsible for RATIONAL long-term decisions. It even thickens the frontal cortex and can increase IQ up to 6 points.
It will probably take 3 months before you notice a change in yourself. It happens so naturally. But it may take years before you & your doctor agree that you are ready to eliminate meds.
There are free binaural beats available on-line. You can also find them on YouTube. Those come with pictures (videos), but I recommend that you close your eyes rather than watch the videos. Your goal is to reduce thought distractions and videos tend to increase them for me. But you can try it both ways and find the way that is most helpful.
This really works. There is growing evidence that meditation is like some sort of a miracle drug.
