If there is so much aid in developing countries, why poverty is increasing in these regions and the industrialized world?

I'm doing a question for my project. Not only that poverty is increasing in the developing world for the worse, it is increasing in the industrialized world, especially the United States.

Dec 7 2012: I think to a certain extent the perception that poverty is increasing is a product of a bar that is constantly being raised. Taking your US example, in the nineteen thirties the poor of the US suffered malnutrition today the poor have an obesity epidemic. What is your definition of poverty? Is poverty relative or absolute? I see poverty as an obsolute ie (a person that can't meet their daily NEEDS) as opposed to a person in the bottom 10% of income.
