Can wild-ness survive in a world with people?
Is wild-ness an unplanned, un-managed environment?
At what point did Homo sapiens begin carving away wild-ness?
Around the world, governments have defined and instituted protected area wildernesses in national parks, forests and preserves. Is it possible to have wilderness without wild-ness?
How deep into wilderness would a wolf have to travel before he would find that wild-ness holds sway?
Explanations of your views and philosophy of what wild-ness is and is not might help in understanding how to preserve local ecosystems and protected areas around the globe for the benefit of all species on Earth.

"Is wild-ness an unplanned, un-managed environment?"
I would like to add 'un-encroached' to your definition.
"At what point did Homo sapiens begin carving away wild-ness?"
When Homo Sapiens started cutting trees.
"Is it possible to have wilderness without wild-ness?"
Wilderness is possible with or without "wild-ness". As you mentioned, there are examples of both around the world.
"How deep into wilderness would a wolf have to travel before he would find that wild-ness holds sway?"
I am unsure if we can gauge the distance without consulting the wolf :-)
