Cultivating bacteria that emit light in a desired wavelength.

You can take e. coli that has been made harmless, splice in genomes that cause the bacteria to emit certain wavelengths and coat, for example, a military vehicle that is on a special operation. The vehicle will be emitting the exact same light that the ground would reflect therefore making it "invisible." This technology could be use for increasing your visibility as well, for example bicyclist want to be seen. Coat their bike in bacteria that has been engineered to give off neon light and not one night time driver will miss them.

    Nov 26 2012: Are you saying that the E. coli on the military vehicle would be engineered to emit the same light on the ground, or it would have other special properties that would cause it to actively change the wavelength so that it can adapt?
