Is it how much truth or how many lies? From the debate "Telling the truth: are there limits?"
My response to the TED debate
http://www.ted.com/conversations/14890/telling_the_truth_are_there_l.html
was "Telling the truth: are there limits?"
Truth has no limits except absolute.
The correct question to ask is "How much deception and how many lies are allowable from politicians?"

It is not politicians who are most to blame. It is the people who condone and promote a climate of dishonesty in government and in their own lives.
I am a staunch supporter of Wikileaks.

Whether their lies are little or much.
We know that laws can not end lies, the same way it has not ended crimes. But we should not condone lies, we should set our sights high on intergrity and uprightless. There would still be lying politicians; but they would be less in a society that truly treasures the truth.

Then again there is the possibility of such men to be corrupted by the system.
That brings the question:is it the system or the leaders?
No matter how hopeless the situation may seem, it is not hopeless.

Just based on the few post-election opinions I have heard about Romney, his flip-flopping on issues was a big reason why he did not get elected. For some reason this seemed to have a bigger effect than the fact that Obama did not keep many of the promises he made in 2008.
Lying is expected of politicians, but the electorate still detests it, and it does have a price.
