Where do thoughts come from?

Where do thoughts come from?
A thought active connections in the brain or vice versa?
If I control my thoughts, do I control my brain connections?
Consciously I do not control my brain... Are my thoughts random emanating of pure subconscious?
Do I really control my thoughts?

Nov 23 2012: A happy hello to everyone.
What I think, should I say today.
To be heard we must write from thought.
    Something new, it must be.
I come to conversations to see, the thoughts of others.
    And to sense their feelings.
Some grow happiness. Some grow anger,
    Some grow wonder and thoughtfulness,
I also go somewhere else to learn; like TED Talks
I go into my mind to understand what it is saying about problems.
I get more knowledge about Mindsight and Control.
    I feel happier longer.
The older I get, the more memories to review I have.
In silence with memories, I feel happiness.
I go into my mind to recover from sorrow.
I tune-in to words of kindness.
My work is to contribute words which lead to sources of happiness.
I no longer need a job, but must do my daily work.
I go visiting to talk and enjoy the wells of happiness.
It is fun to meet happy thinkers.
    Some spill words; that is Ok; they will wash away;
Some appear to think their way to happiness.
One mind map at a time.
I enjoy their lessons learned along their road to destinations.
I know we grow new connections in the brain,
And I know we can learn to direct the path of new growth,
The older we get, the smarter we must grow to do our work
    at the wells of happiness.
