Database of Tedbed designs

In a previous conversation I suggested the use of steel street sign poles as framing and signs and other available material stockpiled nationwide in DOT depots for the construction of a wide range of structures. There was a very good and creative response to this idea with many design concepts. In the wake of sandy as the East Coast struggles for shelters I thought re opening the topic with an eye towards presenting step by step plans for construction would be a good idea.     Nov 5 2012: The sign posts used in street sign (square in cross section with holes every inch), are made of 40 gauge steel, and come in 8 , 10, and 12 foot lenghts. there is also a wide array of connecting hardware and specialized fasteners available. Creative use of signs at the intersection of the posts can greatly enhance the strength. The posts are already owned and stockpiled by the state DOT in widely distributed storage lots making available to all areas struck by disasters, and as they can be returned to the depoys following their use as structures they cost the state nothing.
