If god evolved much like it has through out history, how would it the evolution start? The idea that created thought of god or higher being
For interest of argument and context. I am asserting a generic god, no religion. Just the idea of a god.
It had to come from some where we have as a society have pretty much at one point in time or another worshiped everything. From the sun to the moon to animals.

Once we understood things didn't require a god to make a volcano erupt etc etc it's one less thing that humans have attributed to god and so the perception changes.
The main thing currently changing people's views on a god is the logic and morality of a god which all come to the conclusion that one ins't needed. Or you've mentioned energy, which I've heard similar perceptions such as quantum mechanics has been attributed to god etc

1. How did we come to be?
2. What happens after we die?
However i believe that even if the 2 questions above are solved using science, people will still find a reason to look above to a god.

"The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this..... For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people. As far as my experience goes, they are also no better than other human groups, although they are protected from the worst cancers by a lack of power. Otherwise I cannot see anything 'chosen' about them. "
