If god evolved much like it has through out history, how would it the evolution start? The idea that created thought of god or higher being

For interest of argument and context. I am asserting a generic god, no religion. Just the idea of a god.

It had to come from some where we have as a society have pretty much at one point in time or another worshiped everything. From the sun to the moon to animals.

    Oct 13 2012: If you're talking about the evolution of a concept of god it would have been started by science.
    Once we understood things didn't require a god to make a volcano erupt etc etc it's one less thing that humans have attributed to god and so the perception changes.
    The main thing currently changing people's views on a god is the logic and morality of a god which all come to the conclusion that one ins't needed. Or you've mentioned energy, which I've heard similar perceptions such as quantum mechanics has been attributed to god etc

      Oct 14 2012: Yeah so god is used for when we can not understand something. Quantum Mechanics is a very silly idea of representing god for we really have no clue what is going on in the quantum world. I prefer energy as the term for it it the only thing to date that is all. It also energy/god could also be seen a infinity.

    Oct 11 2012: Could be there really is a god, who in times past was much more obviously intervening in folk's lives. The memory of the actual events gets distorted over the years by faulty memory & embellishment into what we have today. Myths & legends; or maybe; just maybe, the Jews made a better job of keeping the record reliable......

      Oct 11 2012: For me I personally believe that all there is energy and that , My energy/universe is your god. However and the Jewish "god" has changed over time. And most certainly the "practices" of worshiping have changed. But even the Jews had to get the idea from somewhere. Outside of Jesus as far as we know no god has step foot on earth and came to talk to his people.

    Oct 11 2012: Yea i think spirit and concience are 2 in the same, its basically what makes you, "you". and i've always wondered about after you die, what happens to your concience or 'spirit'. Is there really a heaven or hell? Maybe we're reborn without being aware of a past life, maybe once we're dead we're gone and all is black. It's just one of those questions that theres simply no answer for.

    Oct 11 2012: I think god(or should i say gods) we're origonally thought up to explain things that early man couldn't make sense of otherwise(No science). Many civilizations from history such as the Vikings, Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, Mayans etc. had multiple gods to explain things such as solar eclipses, lightning storms and rough seas. Today I think the main role of "God" is to explain 2 simple, significant questions that science has yet to prove fully.



    1. How did we come to be?

    2. What happens after we die?



    However i believe that even if the 2 questions above are solved using science, people will still find a reason to look above to a god.

      Oct 11 2012: I would agree about even finding the those answers we will still look to the heavens. But even Einstein talked about "spirit" even though he condoned organized religion.
