Is what happens in life based on a persons luck?

Some say that in order to be successful in life in any category, a person's luck is what gets them there. And other's say that not to believe in luck, "Luck is what the person does for him or herself." Which is more accurate?

    Oct 10 2012: Actually what we percieve as luck is just another persons actions coinciding parallel to our own ambitions and desires. Bad luck is when it runs perpendicular and gets in the way of our plans and such.

    To be honest it is both, it is both the reactions from the unforeseeable, and the forseeable.
