getting funding

With all the money being made and spent on new buildings, shouldn' t we be getting health insurane companys to fund stem cell research.It seems obvious to me that ther would be a whole lot less paid out in doctor visit , surgerys ...

  • Sep 20 2012: I was just reading here and I felt your urge to persue such research. And suddenly I got an idea, what is probably of no use to you but who knows. I actually have no clue yet what the research can me to humanity and it seems a bit strange the research is not yet a lab hype. But here comes my the idea I had.

    It seems cool from your point of view if a large enough mass invests collectively on research in persue for its promise.
    But the research seems expensive for some reason. ..And results from research perhaps decades later while investors perhaps want faster results.

      Some research would take centuries to pay itself back because there are very few patients who suffer from the disease the research is intended to find a cure for.
  • Sep 19 2012: They are health insurance COMPANIES, their mission is not to make people better, their mission is to make a profit for their shareholders and provide goodies (such as a nice new building) to their executives.

    P.S. pharmaceutical companies would be more likely to invest in stem cell research and they generally do if they think it'll be profitable in the end.
