What religion other than your own do you think is interesting?

who is the true religion?

Sep 17 2012: Interesting how Buddhism has been expressed with majority interest.

Would this be a decently accurate sampling of the entire ted community, or does the question of this topic naturally attract those who are interested in Buddhism?

Sep 17 2012: Because they think Buddhism is morally and philosophically better than the desert Abrahamic stuff, perhaps?
  • Sep 16 2012: I'm an atheist, but if I had to choose a religion it would be a liberal strain of buddhism or early christianity.
  • Sep 18 2012: The Force...
  • Sep 17 2012: The "Old Ways" of the Alaska natives are beautiful and provide a sustainable way of life free of warfare.

Sep 17 2012: I've been watching Muslim fundamentalists, lately, they fascinate me.
    I find Jehovah Witnesses endearing.
And, of course, I love American Creationists, when they have a funny Southern accent.

Religions are ruining spirituality and the geopolitical world, but there's something innocent about them. Like a child smashing his toys with a hammer. You want him to grow up, and you certainly feel like you should ground him, and yet you know that it's typicall two-year-old behaviour. So you just end up saying "Youth tolerance is one of the principles of our household. However, for the well-being of every one living in it as well as safety reasons, we like to discourage the destruction of toys."
  • Sep 17 2012: Being a Buddhist, I find the Druids interesting.
It's all about the teachings & following a course of compassion.
    Is there a true religion?
No idea. That mystery is beyond my knowledge.

True religion: There is none, and those furthest from what I know of as truth are Christianity, Islam, & Judaism. They have also gone the furthest from their roots.

My quasi religion is the early form of Christianity - consistent with the teachings of Jesus rather than the teachings of Paul. It's not really a religion though. I don't worship any god. Jesus and I would be more similar to atheists, though we recognize all and each as gods.
  • Sep 17 2012: spiritual = religion - ego

Sep 16 2012: Based on the little I know about world religions, I think studying the koans of Buddhism would hold the greatest interest to me, as they represent, I think, a style of inquiry.
  • Sep 16 2012: "which one is the true religion?"

    None, they're all myths.

Sep 16 2012: You are asking two quite different questions here. One is which religions are interesting. The other is whether one specifically is true.
    • Sep 16 2012: there is no problem because the two questions related to each others you only have to answer the question you feel comfortable with.
