That theory based subjects like chemistry, accounting, economics should be taught via textbook from 7th grade.
Currently majority of Australian secondary schools only use maths books to teach students vital concepts until 11th and 12th standard. This causes a weak foundation in other subjects that require rote learning, a range of information, and explanations. Textbooks in chemistry and maths are structured differently to that of maths textbooks. Schools prefer using worksheets and teachers notes as tools for educating the students. I think textbooks that are formated like maths textbooks, with chapters, set questions, review homework, projects are much more useful in preparing students for more advanced tasks.
