    Aug 30 2012: Norms are established by cultures. If you lived in a tribe of Canabals their actions would be considered normal. However, if they moved to England or the United States and continued this custom they would be crazy and locked up. City dwellers think that it is crazy to move to the country because their cultural group is centered on the life in the city. A high percent of the towns in my state, Arizona, have a population of 5,000 or less and we like our elbow room. One building iin New York City has more workers than my town (1,500). I would have to be CRAZY to move to that environment. I say lets go spend a week or two in the woods camping out and roughing it. To my wife roughing it means going to a hotel without room service and thinks my idea is pure nuts.

    Societies / cultures determine what is acceptable and what is not.

    As Shakesphere should have said .... Everyone here is strange except me and thee ... and I have my doubts about thee.

    I have heard term like crazy in love, Nuts about you, etc ... I have never heard I'm sane over her, or I'm in the right frame of mind about her, etc ...

    All the best. Bob.

    Aug 29 2012: Whatever is in agreement with my opinion is sane. Whatever is in opposition to my opinion is crazy. My wife says I need to do more housework. . . that's just plain crazy. All of us sane people know the Cubs will win the World Series this year, crazy people think they will not even make the playoffs. William Allen White said: QUOTE: "There is no insanity in man's life so devastating as utter sanity."

    Aug 30 2012: Think at it this way: everybody is crazy more or less but some can't cope within the society we've built.

    If someone is blind we can invent ways and devices that can help that person to cope with a world that sees but with someone that is physical sane we can't often accept that we need something to help them.

    Aug 30 2012: From what i've seen,you wouldn't know the guy next to you was fighting urges to kill you and consume your flesh or want to sodomize you,i was pleasantly surprised when i found that one out considering i was the target but this is not to alarm you or anyone as i worked at a psyche ward back in the 90's.I take my hat off to those people who work within those fields.

    Aug 30 2012: If you are in my industry(Film/Entertainment/Creative arts), its actually a thin line between the sane and the crazy.

    If you live in Lagos,Nigeria, its a thin line between the sane and the crazy;
    if you are a genius trying to explain an innovative idea to a dumb bunch, they'd think you are crazy.
    If you are doing something that attracts a small crowd whose eyes are on you with pity or shock, and someone suggests a transfer to the nearest psychaitric hospital, then you are probably insane.

    Aug 30 2012: No. It is a continuum. You can pick the outliers, but we are all subject to delusions, misfirings etc.

    Aug 30 2012: The insane compulsively try to stop things. It all starts with seriousness. E.G. Edward is as sane as they come, Richard Nixon not so much.
