Aug 28 2012: "Do you want to be a success, or do you want to be good at giving good excuses?"

They are the words of one of my lecturers in film school when I told him a lengthy story of why an assignment that is due to be submitted was not ready for submission.

I love this quote, I do find so often that when we clearly state what we want to achieve it is at once the most difficult and liberating thing we can do.

"I cannot force you to be motivated. Motivation is internal to the Individual. The best I can hope to do is provide you a means to motivate yourself. So tell me, what is important enough to YOU that I can tell you that will self-motivate you?"

    That usually got them thinking.

I however must hold the record for being edited. They do not tolerate winning arguments if you are not on the team. Today people responded to posts that were already gone. I wonder if this one will make it.

Maybe we will getway with the world singing.

Aug 27 2012: “The knowledge that the atoms that comprise life on earth - the atoms that make up the human body, are traceable to the crucibles that cooked light elements into heavy elements in their core under extreme temperatures and pressures. These stars- the high mass ones among them- went unstable in their later years- they collapsed and then exploded- scattering their enriched guts across the galaxy- guts made of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and all the fundamental ingredients of life itself. These ingredients become part of gas clouds that condense, collapse, form the next generation of solar systems- stars with orbiting planets. And those planets now have the ingredients for life itself. So that when I look up at the night sky, and I know that yes we are part of this universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact, I look up- many people feel small, cause their small and the universe is big. But I feel big because my atoms came from those stars.”
    ― Neil deGrasse Tyson

Take the risk of thinking for yourself, much more happiness truth beauty and wisdom will come to you that way.

Aug 27 2012: When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always.
    Mahatma Gandhi

These are sustaining me right now and I hope that they work for you too.

This is what encourages me though:- Fire it up! - I recognize the same spirit that brought me out of that coma in it.
