mobile companion

as the blind cannot see the way they are walking what about having a mobile having the sensors which could make them move indeed it should be just like a companion helping them in each and every aspect . It should be solar rechargable so that they will not be hurt

Aug 10 2012: There are phone apps which give talking directions already, and devices which provide a form of echolocation.
    • Aug 18 2012: yes but they r not solar chargable
and their battery backup will be low
      in case of mobile apps

Aug 9 2012: Is there a sort of measurement that the blind use to tell distance from themselves to an object that they have encountered before? would it be in footsteps? How would a device describe a post office box which is next to a kiosk 8 meters ahead off to the right with people crossing in all directions between it and the person?

I thought when i read your post that we have GPS why not for the blind? There's nothing wrong with your idea but it made me think maybe this is very complex.
    • Aug 18 2012: yes most of the blind tell the distance in terms of foot steps .
it can tell not onl post offices every thing around them which are at the visible range. so that they know every thing just like a normal man

Aug 8 2012: This is an very essential product. It will help lot of blind people around the world. The same thing to this I have proposed in by idea post. It will be recognizing trees shrubs etc. and then tell or display detail information available in internet about the tree or shrubs or flower. But I have posted this thrice in different way. Today only one person has commented on my idea. I hope to see your idea becomes reality and help blind people.

Aug 8 2012: Lovely idea, but it need not only be used by the blind. I might have been able to use such a device after my cerebral hemmmoragic strokes. Good luck! The population is aging and strokes will be more and more common. Market it first to the therapists who are the most dedicated and intelligent and compassionate folks you will ever meet. They will help you expand the applications.

Aug 8 2012: So you're talking about a device that helps physically disabled people move around similar to a normal person?
    • Aug 18 2012: yes

Aug 18 2012: Well for the blind, the "companion" kinda already exist, like those companion dogs or the blind canes.

You also shouldn't underestimate a blind's disabilities, I've heard some really cool stories about their supernatural feats like their heightened sense of touch or hearing just by feeling the vibrations or auditory cues.

But maybe having something like a bluetooth or a companion drone or something could be kinda neat.
        • Aug 18 2012: sorry sir i am not underestimating them
all of them cannot have that power of grasping with the vibrations of air.
those who r blind by birth and those have the fire in them have that
