IT IS HIGH TIME THAT WE TURN OUR FOCUS TO THE ERODING HUMAN VALUES. SOCIAL COMMITMENTS AND MORAL RESPONSIBILITIES ARE TAKING BACK SEATS.

SUCCESS HAS BECOME THE CATCH WORD. THE WAYS TO SUCCESS OFTEN MATTERS LITTLE. IT MAY BE AT THE EXPENSE OF VALUES, MORALS AND SOCIAL COMMITMENTS. HOW CAN WE RECAPTURE THE LOST SPACES OF HUMAN VALUES FROM OUR SOCIAL SPHERE? WHAT CAN WE DO TO GIVE AN ELBOW SPACE FOR MUTUAL RESPECT? HOW CAN WE RESHAPE THE DEFINITION OF SUCCESS? CAN LOVE AND COMMITMENT TO A LARGER CAUSE BE BROUGHT TO THE FOREFRONT WITHOUT DOING MUCH HARM TO PROGRESS?

Jul 14 2012: Well first off, turning caps lock off is a good start.
And what morals exactly have eroded?
And when does science or tech ignore such morals?
    • Jul 15 2012: If we have strong faith in our values we will not have pollution, crime, .....When we turn blind eyes to values unnecessary competitions crop up. ...it is not necessary to stamp on others to take your stride ....

Jul 15 2012: Stop shouting. Share more about your "larger cause".
    • Jul 15 2012: we should not be myopic. Often these ideas are treated as just shouts in the deserts. We have to train our generations in sticking to values while they are focused on their goals.

Jul 15 2012: I agree a lack of foresight is severely limiting. Your phrase, "shouts in the deserts" has a Biblical tone to it. Do you advocate for a particular set of values to which we should stick? Again, what is your "larger cause"? Thank you!
  • Jul 14 2012: TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS AND SCIENTIFIC SUCCESS OFTEN HAVE RESULTED BY GIVING LITTLE CONSIDERATION TO SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMMITMENTS. IT IS HIGH TIME WE SHIFT OUR ATTENTION TO ECO FRIENDLY, SOCIETY LOVING FORMULAS OF SUCCESS
  • Jul 15 2012: I agree with you. Our society is leaning more towards selfishness and its accompaning ills.
Freedom is promoted without emphasis on the responsibilities that comes with it; and there is now very little attention to valuable basic relationships such as family.

That is why many have become ruthless in their dealings with other humans.
There are real problems here; but It is human nature to give certain problematic trends a fancy name and pretend its not a problem until its fatalities become unbearable.

I, as a christian, believe that my answer to this or my solution to this, is the exercise of my freedom of speech to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

    Jul 14 2012: Hi Lalitha.
First you have to identify what moral codes you are aiming for.
Then you have to identify the source of these codes.
Finally you have to advocate for the source, &, of course, live your own life accordingly & encourage others to do likewise.
Ps. Be prepared to take some flack.

    :-)
