What is Art to you?

art by definition is:
The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

But in simple words, what is Art to you?

Is anyone capable of doing this?

Jul 14 2012: Yes, but talking is communication too...how is art different from talking or any other means of communication?

Jul 14 2012: Good question. But talking and communication are not the same thing. There is a lot of talk on TED but what % of this talk is communication? Do people come here to communicate or because it is a convenient soap box and they have nothing better to do?

Communication is the imparting of ideas with the intention of the ideas being heard and the turnabout of that individual stating back the proverbial "I hear you"

Which is why you see so many times an individual will ask the question do you "hear me" or "do you know what I mean"? as people in general walk around like a chatty Kathy doll with out any one saying "I hear ya" People are starved to be heard.

That stated is a book art? that is just talking, Is a song art that is just talking in a melodic way with some music, Is a movie art that is just talking with some cool effects?

A painting doesn't talk but does it communicate? A statute doesn't talk but does it communicate? A dancer doesn't talk but do they communicate?

Jul 15 2012: Yeah, I get that. But what I mean is how is art different from any other means of communication? How is it different from music or verbal communication? what makes it art?

Jul 15 2012: Maybe there isn't any? In other words communication is an art which is different than talking. They say the best art requires that the viewer participate. Which is the same with communication. Remember a teacher who was not pedantic? I will wager they were few and the communication was good?
