what is the unknown things about brain that science hadn't found reasons for them till now?

Every day scientists find new amazing things about brain, but although that there are a lot of facts or diseases till now no one had known their reasons,
In fact, I want to discover any thing related to brain and may be the answer of this question will be the key for the beginning. So, I hope you all help me about that ^_^ thanks :)

    Jun 21 2012: In a class research project, I discovered that the brain is not like a 'muscle' and does not necessarily deteriorate with age. It is the lack of firing 'connections' that cause the brain to deteriorate ( In other words: use it or lose it.). The brain's of many 80 year olds were discovered to be as fully functional as 20 year olds. This information has been discovered in the last 15 years or so. Hope it's accurate!

    Jun 20 2012: We don't have a definite reason for deja vu, Dan Dennet theorises that it's when one signal to your brain is delayed by a millisecond and then your brain registers it as something you've seen before.

      Jun 20 2012: Déjà vu is pretty weird to me, I've heard of some of the theories involving that kind of brain lag or a memory of something similar but vague enough to be changed into the same event you're experiencing now. But my own experience with déjà vu sometimes involves a short time of knowing what's going to happen next. Could be lucky guessing, but it feels a bit "what the fuck is going on" when it happens.

        Jun 20 2012: Yea I love that moment of wow... associated with it, I'd add another theory to it and mine incorporates the brain's ability to fool itself. Given the sheer amount of thoughts we have and the amount of time we spend imagining and dreaming in our sleep, I way say that due to probability that there is a chance that eventually you'll imagine/ dream something vague and then experience it in real life. And seeing as how the brain can fool itself, I would say that the brain could also pencil in details to the vague memory you have so that it fits the idea of deja vu. Just an idea

          Jul 20 2012: That registers with me. The two times I distinctly recall experiencing dv I felt it was a dreaming moment come to life, literally, the memory of a dream. But here I was, experiencing it in real life, although in reality only for the first time. Not to be confused with disassociation, the feeling of being out of body. Given all this, I wonder why we don't experience jamais vu with any frequency while young?
