Are "tunnels/connections" between different apps and content possible?

Dear Ted'sters,

I was wondering if it possible to connect different ios apps and their content with each other? If yes how? If not why?

Has their been an research on user-interface between different applications? What would you recommend me to research?

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

    Jun 19 2012: It need a common interface between apps.I think if apple havn't provide such interface or protocol(which i think it is impossible),you can use standard web protocol, every program want supply content or info acting as a web server. and the client can retrieve infos through standard socket protocol.I think there are plenty methods to achive your target.waiting for other guys comments.
