What would humanity and society be if marriage partnership included a periodic roll swap.... Bread winner and care giver?

would marriages last longer? Would there be fewer mental health issues? Would children be abused less? Would homes look different? Would income levels be different? Would options for life-long-learning be more varied? Would being out of the workplace for five years carry the same penalties when re-entry is desired?

    Jun 19 2012: It's a good idea ... where does these gender based rules come in the first place ? since they are not laws and man made rules, they can be switched periodically specially in a long term project like marriage, it will balance many things and partners will understand each other better.
    every man has bot male and female characteristics in it ("ANIMA" and "ANIMUS") therefore your suggestion seems to be logical and perhaps essential.

    Instead of reversing "gender roles" within a marriage, why not have periodic relaxing of the 'rules' of marriage..?
