DISNEY IS THE LATEST TO BAN JUNK FOOD .. IS THAT FAIR.

All the the companies banning junk food is it encouragement, promoting kids health, or should we be able to make our own choice.

I understand American kids are obese but not buying junk food at Disneyland will not change that. For the trip we eat at McDonalds and stock up on sodas, candy, and chips.

i DO NOT WANT TO BE KNOW AS THE GUY WHO SNUCK A TWINKY INTO DISNEYLAND AND IS NOW BAN FOR LIFE.

The education process promoting good diets must start at the grass roots.

What do you think?

Jun 8 2012: Disney gets my vote for common sense on this one! Great news - the TV channel will no longer screen junk food advertising.

I love pizza, but I eat a balanced diet and only eat junk occasionally - and I know when to stop. The problem with the issue of personal choice is that junk food is very addictive - high fat, high sugar, high salt - low fiber. It actually changes a person's sense of taste. Once a person with a weakness for this sort of food gets a taste for it.... anything goes. And portion sizes in the US (and increasingly so in the UK) are totally gross!

Becoming obese is a major social wellfare issue. For kids it makes life miserable as they are often bullied and certainly unable to participate fully in an active life. Well done Disney!

Jun 7 2012: Education fails in the face of rampant consumerism and profit for the sake of profit.

It comes down to individual responsibility and corporate responsibility.

You can smoke, drink and drug yourself to death and that's frowned upon and regulated. Why not poison in the form of junk food?

Jun 7 2012: The question I have is why? I assume they have banned it in anticipation of brand damaging bad press regarding food choices available. The frustrating thing is any nutritionist will tell you, you don't become obese from eating junk food, you become obese from eating too much food. Plus I would have thought that a place that is built on entertainment, that you might only go to once or twice in your life, is the perfect place for junk food. Junk food is fine if kids associate it with a special event. It becomes a problem if it is seen as normal to have junk food for a meal. A trip to disney land is all about doing things that you don't normally do.

Jun 7 2012: Disney should be able to do what it wants on this issue. It's their company and they can do what they want as long as its legal. That's the basis of our capitalistic society.

When it comes to government forcing healthy habits then there's an issue.

Jun 7 2012: People should decide what they want to do for themselves. If they let there kids do unhealthy things Darwin's law will reconcile the situation

Jun 6 2012: Which is exactly what they're trying to do, Disney is largely a kid's attraction, and not having junk food just takes it out of your life which is good. When I was at Disney myself I've to say I was horrified, they were selling turkey legs, we've chicken drumsticks as we call them in the UK but these turkey legs were huge and covered in fat and it turned me a little, and so what if you've the right to eat what you want, companies have the right to try and prevent people becoming so big they require mobility scooters, i phrase I learnt from sport, out of sight, out of mind. You don't see the junk food, you don't want the junk food.
