What are some strategies for implementing the TED spirit on a local level?

While the day at TEDx was great - and inspiring - it seems to me we need some mechanism for keeping the creative fire burning at the local level in order to translate it into real change. Inspire me with some of your examples!

    Jun 12 2012: The lady with the featured question who is offering to help find any TED talk gives us all an example of that beautiful TED spirit in action. She is dyed in the wool TED! We should follow her example eveerywhere possible.

    Jun 11 2012: I agree with some of the comments below, talk about TED a lot with the people around you, send them links to talks that you think will inspire them and get them interested in learning more about some of these amazing ideas.

    For me I have taken this a step further, I am doing A Year of TED, applying TED talks into my daily life through 30 day activities. I've been doing this for 7 months now and sharing my experiences through my blog www.kyliedunn.com. The aim of sharing is to show other people that many of these talks can have a practical application, that it is not just "chicken soup for the soul", but that if you think about the messages and how they might be applied to your daily life then they really can make a difference.

    Jun 10 2012: I recommend a TED book club. My friend in Albuquerque, Carrie Williar, runs one where we read a book a month by a TED speaker. It is a springboard for deeper exploration of the concepts these speakers present, and a conduit for like-minded people to meet and discuss ideas.

    Jun 10 2012: Another useser had this idea that he intended as humor: He got awoken by Jehovah's Witnesses knocking. So he offered an idea of "scientific misionaries," people who would go house to house educating the public about basic ideas in science: the method, what's an hypothesis, a theory, burden of proof, ect. rather novel, i think. you?

    -Any ways, my long rant's point is: is there any colledge "clubs" or other organisations? -That'd probably be a good idea. perhaps Science Olimpiad.

      Jun 10 2012: I totaly agree if you, Prince. A big change starts with a small step, and share TED's ideias in our private nets, with family and friends for example, is a good way to cause break patterns, to have a more collaborative, innovative and sustainable society.

    Jun 6 2012: I believe that TED spirit is stronger than ever before thanks to the ability of intellectual communities to relate on very diverse levels (and technology!) To inspire others, you first have to develop a relationship. This is where the inspiration ignites!

    So, a good place to start (IMO) is by provoking thoughts at every corner. Thus, in what I consider "the TED spirit", do so in a manner that encourages the search for knowledge and further inspiration.

    I would encourage the search for knowledge to be as unbiased as possible, aimed toward a goal of truth and understanding, not just the perpetuation of past paradigms.

    Also, I agree with Debra and Florian, "live loud and proud," and be all that is TED :-)

    In my opinion, the best way to implement the TED spirit is simply to communicate with your friends, to share your stories, your ideas. I'm sure that speaking with people and spreading ideas are the first step to make minds evolve and that is the best startegy for implementing TED spirit, which is quite simple : intelligence, talent and initiative spirit. So try to be more intelligent, to have more talent, to take more initiatives and also encourage your friends to do so !
