How to deal with the rich

There a 3 ways to deal with the rich.
1- The communist says: kill the rich!!
2- The conservative says: don't mess with the rich!!
3- The social democrat (or liberal) says: tax the rich!!!

Jun 1 2012: we can give both of them a month off from their regular life and make them live among the poor where survival is their only need and this would lead them to work for their most basic food, water and shelter rather than earn money. This should make the realize what a non rich person needs to do to survive in the world.

Jun 1 2012: We may classify the rich into the following:

The regular rich - these people are actually who earn lavishly. They work day and night to earn every penny they can.

Remedy - we need them to realize that what is actual happiness and satisfaction that they are missing in their life for being a workhorse.

The hereditary rich – These are the people who spend the huge money earned by their parents. These are peculiar ones because they don’t know anything other than spending and only want more money.

Remedy – isolation with a bag full of money (they would soon realise that money isn’t everything they want)

Jun 1 2012: "we need them to realize"

i understand the goal. i was asking about the method

      "isolation with a "

it would involve men in blue suits handcuffing them, and putting in a van?

Jun 1 2012: well that depends on what type of rich we are dealing with !!!

May 31 2012: I would prefer to go my way:

Make the rich realize whats good in not being rich.
  • May 31 2012: The answer is ...do not allow them to rule the banking system.
Control the flow of money better.
When there is a set flow of money that neither increases or decreases then people actually have to do/create jobs that add
value to peoples' lives not just take away from them...like the current Rich man monetary system.

May 31 2012: so either rob or kill or leave alone. does not seem to be a hard choice.

May 31 2012: The bible, which is the basis of my choices, says 'thou shall not kill'. So, killing anyone, even the rich can only be justified in a just war.

Dont cheat the rich; dont even steal for his or her abundance.
Yes, tax the rich; higher taxes. The rich should give generously.

Jun 1 2012: the bible also says thou shalt not steal. the bible does not say, however, that "except in war". so you seem to subscribe a peculiar interpretation of the bible.

ps: tax is stealing, or more precisely, robbing. if you disagree, tell me the difference

Jun 1 2012: The bible supports government as the overseer of human affairs so that there will be law and order.
Government are run with taxes, and infastructures and social welfare are provided by government with taxes.
  • May 31 2012: I think a reasonable level of taxation for rich AND companies will go a longway to ensure they paying their share of wealth for the benefit of the society and indirectly for their benefit.

May 31 2012: The corporate rates in the U.S. are the highest in the world?
      • May 31 2012: Perhaps but many corporations use tax law loopholes effectively paying very low rates. This is a huge problem.
        • thumb
Jun 1 2012: True but the majority of corporations are small and do not take advantage of the loop holes the reality is different than the conjecture...

I am not sure but if you look at this graph you will see what I mean:

        cheers

Jun 1 2012: That graph is specious (Wikipedia is dubious anyway) the tax law changed in the late 80's through the mid 90's so that the marginal tax rate went down on personal taxes so that CEO's were better off paying the tax personally and went to a sub chapter S corp. I could explain further but you probably don't want to hear it. But the reality is that the actual taxes collected were exactly the same it was just paid under a different category. This is a favorite meme of the left.
      • Jun 1 2012: "Wikipedia is dubious anyway"

Wikipedia is dubious? For sure not 100% but it is pretty accurate and comprehensive in many areas.

Yes it seems that on average American capital tax is higher than in other countries however I question whether very low tax rate for corporations is a good thing for the society:

May 31 2012: Lets see how are jobs created?

One way and only one way, jobs are created by rich guys investing in new business. In this manner countries compete for investment capital. If you make you country more difficult to invest in then the investor goes elsewhere where he can make a profit. This is why the U.S. is going the worse recession since the great depression.

Now a lot of people are going to say a lot of reasons why this isn't so but they are really just regurgitating propaganda.

      R H 20+

      • +1
May 31 2012: Oh cmon, Pat. The way most jobs are created is that the 'big investors' have cut so many employees that people are forced to start their own small businesses. The investors also invest in technology which provides 'greater efficiency for shareholders' and reduced human resources - the most expensive resource generally speaking. The 'investor' demands greater productivity per employee and jobs are eliminated through 'restructuring'. Rich guys invest in getting richer, getting more out of employees, and getting more done with fewer employees. Creating jobs is a nice, publishable sidebar. And we didn't ship our manufacturing jobs overseas because of 'investment capital'. We did it for cheaper labor to countries with little or no human rights, no envirnomental concern, and a standard of living we never have endured.

Jun 1 2012: Yes RH that is what the media would have you believe but if you get past a superficial and specious understanding of economics you realize that just isn't so. In my experience the evil rich guys are the exact opposite of what they are portrayed as, one definition of an executive is one who serves others again in my experience that is a LOT closer to the truth.
