Jun 28 2012: READ! I carry at least one book at all times.
Also there is a saying (I am not exactly sure I subscribe to it though) that only boring people get bored.

May 31 2012: Getting bored is not the other persons problem. It is also your responsibility to seek a common ground to develop a mutually satisfying conversation / meeting. I find that a mindset from the beginning is the key. I ask what I can take away from this event / meeting. How many contacts can I make to better assist me in future endevors. Is this a good networking environment.

Feeling good is a internal act. If you do not feel good about yourself or those around you make a change. You are not doing either yourself or them any good.

    All the best. Bob.

May 31 2012: Hi Chetan, This is an interesting question. I read somewhere that boredom only became a common and widespread emotion where and when TV became a common and frequently used medium for children's entertainment - in effect, TV taught our children to need frequent and high levels of changing and mentally stimulating entertainment. When they are deprived of this stimulation they become fed up with the reality around them.

The same thinker has noticed that the text/ fb generation has developed a craving for "mind" connection and can become socially isolated, anxious and excluded when deprived of this connection.

Are our minds out growing normal life?

      Jun 1 2012: Heather,
what you mean from the above context is that we often get bored with things that we are much prone to??

May 31 2012: It's specific to someone, but naturally we can use this approach:

    - review our responsibilities, review your priorities, perhaps there is something we missed, and strong enough as a trigger to force us to do something

    - or, just stay within "get bored" as long as you can, and wait until there is strong desire inside ourselves, enough to push us to do something (and should be filtered for own safety :> ). It based on the fact that we are naturally still moving, so when we are stay still for a longer time, usually (generally) our natural instinct tend to force us to move through our desires. Perhaps the idea that will come out through this process will be a unique idea or unpredictable, creative idea or just something that remind us to do something we forgot.

Outside these are indications that we are get sick or dying.

    Less or more ...

Jun 1 2012: Hmmm as a software engineer , I can understand that annoying phase, when work doesn't make sense. We ve all gone through that phase chetan.
Keep your mind pre occupied by studying best selling self help books (because honestly I don't think just reading through them ll really help)

        Cheers,
        Bharath
