Eating frequent fast food meals causes teens and young adults to gain more weight and face an increased risk of developing insulin resistance. fast food can make you obese and can also cause diabetes, heart disease, and very high blood pressure which can cut over 20 years of your life. Fast food obesity is extremely strenuous for the entire body, which was never intended to carry that much extra weight. Your heart will also end up working harder than it should, which eventually leads to obesity heart disease.
There are also various other obesity diseases, the result of which can be fatal.
1: Heart Disease, 2: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, 3: Diabetes, 4: Dyslipidemia, 5: Sleep Apnea, 6: Blount’s Disease, 7: Arthritis, 8: Respiratory Problems, 9: Stroke, 10: Liver Damage.
Some other fast food obesity diseases include angina, glucose intolerance, gout, and congestive heart failure. Obese people also face the risks of certain types of cancer. In addition, there are several diseases that can occur because of the strain caused by extra body weight, such as osteoarthritis and hernias.

May 29 2012: People drown every day. Does that mean water is injurious to health? Of course not, water is life giving. What is injurious is to fail to respect the dangers of water. Fast food joints are fraught with danger, but they can also be a fairly good source of good nutrition. I suspect you mean grease-dripping, salt-laden cholesterol bombs when you say "fast food", but your wording allows for the sweeping generalization that all fast food is unhealthy.Fast food is an important part of our socio-economic system. I think we should educate youngsters about the best menu choices and about the dangerous ones to be avoided. My answer is "Yes" some fast food is injurious to health. Thank you Mr. Degdawala.

May 29 2012: I think your take on the topic is reliable and comprehensive. It is one thing to eat fastfood once in a while; it is another thing to make a living on its steady consumption.
A regular diet of fastfoods is detrimental to the health and daily, many citizens of the developed world are developing health complications as a result of it.
I just hope that people will listen to the voice of reason and adopt healthy alternatives.

May 29 2012: Highly processed food, sugar-heavy food and caffeinated drinks should be treated like cigarettes.

Obesity is the single biggest (expensive) health issue but of course, lobbyists are ensuring they can continue to get fat off of making people fat.

Adults should be able to keep themselves healthy. Kids, not so much, but that doesn't stop greed-merchants targeting them. I mean toys, McDonald's? Please.

Jun 27 2012: I think so but it is often made very tempting never the less- by corporate committees who understand that in their jobs profit trumps health.

May 30 2012: some fast food available in the market favors food poisoning and injurious to health.

May 29 2012: No as Ed put it so well in his water comparison. A woman in the US sued McDonalds because she bought and consumed five big Macs, fries, and cokes each day and was over weight. Fast food did not cause her problem. One of the great sins is gluttony. We must make decisions and do all things in moderation.

I do agree that if given the choice, fast foods are not the best meal available.

    All the best. Bob
