information and advertising on packaging (may offend!)

detailed information on packaging in the form of digital animated pictures on packaging for foods and goods of the creation of the final product from all sources of the individual product via webcams throughout the product life-cycle up until it reaches your hands (not to the beginning of time, but perhaps from the beginning of each stage in the factory, to be pedantic) to ensure higher satisfaction of quality of foods and goods.

damaged goods on delivery? view a fast-framed webcam of where the damage occurred in the factory or during transit and notify the insurance company appropriately.

contaminant in your meat from the supermarket? a sticky clear plastic with a computer-screen built into it (see http://www.forbes.com/2009/08/03/plastic-logic-ereader-markets-equities-amazon.html ) could show where the contaminant occurred via webcams throughout the factory(s) and you can suitably choose a different package of meat., there-by avoiding poisoning BEFORE it happens to enter your digestive tract.

animated and possibly even sound via mini speakers could be applied to the digital animated packaging (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsEJlyiG0wg ) to apply advertising to cover the cost of the information given on the packaging.

May 29 2012: Great futuristic idea on packaging. Cost of technology would be a big factor in this becoming a practical reality. If major food industries come together this might be possible.

May 30 2012: i think it would require the players in logistics (think big like FedEx, and other large international logistics companies) to make the effort and start communication with the major food industries as well as other industries such as electronics and other goods.

personally, i think the cost of these flimsy plastic computer screens over packaging probably wouldn't be covered by advertising, but, simply putting on a bar-code for a website address with access to the information may be enough. advertising would indeed cover the cost of running the web-server with ample to spare.

organising such a feat, on the other hand, requires mass communication between large international companies, which i think is a good thing.

May 24 2012: That is an amazing idea. The technology would also allow the consumer to make sure the employees packaging and assembling their goods were treated fairly and are in good working conditions.

May 30 2012: I'd imagine that some workers would not want themselves to be filmed, but if the option for better pay if you opt to be filmed arises, I would say it would create an entirely new market for goods and services delivery, by almost guaranteeing good working conditions for goods production by being filmed.

Could even take it a step further and attempt to reduce suicide rates in mass factories by optionally sponsoring one of the workers who made your product and view their (auto?)biography on-line and open communication channels.
