Subtitle support on iPad
Today I met a couple in McDonald's who were exploring a new iPad fresh out of the box. I have found some very inexpensive styli that work better than any of the ones I have tried including those costing $30+. A stylus increases the utility of our iPad incredibly. My wife is an artist and I create a lot of sketches with short notes. I like to share this discovery with every iPad user I see.
Approached these strangers and quickly discovered they were deaf. I started writing notes on napkins. (I have never learned to sign.) We switched to Notepad and we communicated slowly, but successfully. I wanted to tell them about our favorite Apps and TED was at the top of the list.
I didn't know if TED supported either English subtitles or perhaps signing. Went home and quickly discovered that English subtitles were available for many of my favorite talks and more were being added every day.
Switched from my desktop to my iPad and found neither the App nor Safari supported video with subtitles. Tried Google and same problem.
I would like to know if their is a way for iPad users to play subtitled Talks or if any plans are in place to 'make it so'?
If not, I would hope someone could 'fix this' and open up TED to the deaf.
