How to stop HIV virus spreading?

Today HIV virus is spreading very fast like flowing water. All the person know that what is the adverse effect of HIV. But why most of people do not follow the instruction to stop spread? In most of cases while taking blood in hospital lack of awareness is resulting in HIV.

    Jun 12 2012: Another way to stop the spread of AIDs is a bit controversial.Men need to buy condoms based on actual physical size rather than ego size. Everywhere that aids is spreading virally, it appears that one of the real problems is that the condom slips off because it was way too big to start with.

      Jun 13 2012: Haha.....there is a whole science behind condoms. Like soap is not a good lubricant for condoms or oils because they soften plastic and they rip easier that way. I think Debra makes a valid point as well.

    May 31 2012: This is an important question. Infection prevention people are aware that HIV outside the body is one of the easiest things to kill. Inside the body it is an entirely different story.

Dr Fidel Castro, President of the island of Cuba, had the whole island tested and those who tested posative were placed in a fenced off town and lived seperate from all others until death. Sounds rough, crude and primative but it was certainly effective. All the best. Bob

      May 20 2012: Morality of Life vs Limitations of Spreading....sounds like a debate...but I am biased to the Morality of Life....so that is difficult for me to perceive. A cure can be invented, but prevention can also work. A cure seems to be trifled by big drug companies making bank on other peoples suffering though.

      May 18 2012: i m really lucky that i am coming in touch with great people across the world like you. I see that lots of people who suffering from this virus. In this Virus when person suffer from this situation its a very difficult condition for them to control the body. They feel very critical when they are at last stage of this HIV virus.

        May 18 2012: Exactly Daxesh,To make things worse, they are not even accepted in the Society and people are still not able to get out of the social stigma . As human beings everybody makes mistakes but it should not be looked like a sin . At that point of time care becomes very critical to the person who is in the last stage of HIV virus.
        Coming to your previous point , I too have made friends globally and via TED, we can bring about a reform to the world through our powerful ideas

    You have raised a very important quesion.
    Well,the most easiest way to stop spreading HIV is to use Common sense at the right point of time ..and
    Most importantly creating more awareness among people and educate people about the do's and don't s .
    Coming from a country like India, unfortunately it is still considered as a stigma and condom machines don't even work .
    Just to buy a condom , people go to stores 8 miles away from their home and the weird stares we get from shopkeepers is even more embarrassing :)
    Maybe an online shopping stores would make things more confidential . Probably a bulk order will also help.

      I think because "sex" is such a "hust, hush" topic among many countries, the paradigm shift should be in the direction about the fact that Sex Is Natural. Everyone does it! What condoms/contraceptives do, is it allows parents to choose "WHEN". A child should not feel like an "accident", so condoms/contraceptives gives parents the insurance that their child will have the most out of their life because the parents were financially, mentally, and physically ready to have a child. =)

      May 18 2012: Currently at free clinics, usually called planned parenthood, they give free std check ups and they can give you free condoms. In the U.S. I believe there is one free clinic in most towns.

      At colleges, where I have been, there is always free condoms at the health services. There are also some at areas where large amounts of people pass through.
