Is the general population of the west turning a blind eye to the actions they have unknowingly participated in in destabilizing the mideast?

There is plenty of evidence that points to the west's use of secret services to disrupt/overthrow and destabilize countries in the middle east. Such examples include the coup in Iran of the 1950s, the coup in Indonesia of 1965(not mid east), and recently the " uprising" of Lybia, and now the "humanitarian crises" in Syria. I think it is high time people start reading a bit more into modern history of warfare and start to understand the destruction that is happening to other countries by the hands of our governments. If we are truly living in global times we can no longer allow the injustices of others to flourish while we live in the safety and comfort of our "civilized" societies... for now.

Closing Statement from Varlan Allan

It is truly a sad situation for those caught in the middle of a conflict of Power. Though it is not always clear who is the tyrant and in many cases the people are the only ones that suffer. My best wishes are with the people of Syria, my prayers go out to the heavens, to give those who are causing the destruction, a right firm smack of justice.

May 20 2012: Varian, As I read through your replies I cannot help to feel that your are not open mined on this subject. In almost every instance the countries that enter in the affairs of other countries do so as UN aid or observers. As the US has assets available we are often tapped for relief efforts. You must have missed the shelling of cities and civilians in Syria, Idi Amein in Uganda, and hundreds of other leaders who kill anyone in opposition. When you say the West, you imply the US. You imply that we (the West) turn our backs on those in need. You have let your politics harden your humanity for the lives of others. As you state in your logo Teacher, ICAN READ, that is a good talent to have as a teacher. Perhaps you should broaden your sources and open your mind to different view points. Do we always do the right thing? Probally not. However, I am not convienced that we ALWAYS do the wrong thing either.

As a teacher I do not want to "read into" I try hard to review many sources to gain a consciences of opinions. There are some sources that will always give the Democratic view or the Republican view and slant the news to favor one party or the other in the US. I try to watch views from each and even the BBC for a different point of view. After which I make my decision and do not allow them to poison my mind. I listened to all the comments about Obamacare and then read it for myself and found good and bad. Unlike the politicians who never read it and voted.

Hope you accept this in the spirit I wrote it. All the best. Bob
    • May 20 2012: Bob, like Edward I respect the spirit and heart of your monologue. But your evidence is weak and by all accounts it would seem as if you are the one that is not being open-minded as I have intensely viewed these issues from both sides. You are telling me that by watching all western networks that you are getting 2 sides to your stories?
Though I may support the the side opposite to you, it does not invalidate me. And by West, I mean Canada, USA, france, germany, spain, norway, sweden, england, denmark, switzerland. Though China, and Russia are part of the UN it is very clear that they do not want any part in the pursuits of the West. And though I lean to the side of the Chinese and Russian opinion, it does not mean I do not feel for those people caught in the middle of the conflict. My evidences are convincing enough, but even with the evidence I provide readers they still bow to western media. I'm not surprised as it is part of the Military Industrial complex of the US led UN. The number of foreign presidents overthrown by US-backed coups speaks louder to me than any amount of 2$ news coming from FOX, CNN, BBC, and all western media combined.

May 20 2012: Thanks for the reply. We can agree to disagree on this issue. You seem to think we are invalidating you and we feel you are dismissing our points of view as not having any merit. From these opposing views I see no precievable middle ground to meet on. Bob

Please give yourself a chance to evaluate the vast destruction in the world that US has committed under the cover of human rights. The American citizens may think this is in their favor and close their eyes. But they are victims, too.
      • May 24 2012: Thanks Hamzeh, I am surprised that so many people would believe in the name of "humanitarian " crisis yet there are tons of African nations in 10x worse situations. I believe US gov provides more aid to Israel that has 5 million people than the whole of Africa which has nearly a billion.

**israel is given 2 billions a year in aid. 5 mil people
Africa is given 6 billion for nearly a billion people....
        Do the math...
