If i were to build a structure 4500 years ago and balance that structure using water, would the measurement be constant today ?

I think it would reflect the asis of the earth either 4500yrs ago or now and further more that there would be a difference that would reflect the time it was built provided the construction was sound. (I.E.) The pyramids in egypt would reflect the decay of the axis and the true date they were built. Water clocks dont just run in minutes and hours.

May 29 2012: If the volume of your water ballasts were all equal, then it might still be standing.
  • May 17 2012: first thing that comes to mind is who would maintain this machine second would you use the material and skills available at that time third the pyramids were in a desert and so were not at the mercy of the erosive effect of water and extreme changes in climate and had the ideal design to withstand the wind which was the only erosive condition there. now if by some still unknown process you could take with you the material and knowledge we have at our disposal today the structure would probable last longer than 4500 years with very little care the problem would be the water since you would need a steady flow over a 4500 year span even under ground rivers have ebb and flow
