Is persuasion always a good thing?

Pictures, speeches, and videos which layout an idea or concept in a friendly and comprehensive manner tend to create a domino effect of support. There are issues which need this support but are we fighting fire with fire?

Is there an alternative to the persuasive techniques of gaining support? Persuasive presentations will almost always persuade, however the audience might be swayed AGAINST the idea.

Any thoughts?

May 20 2012: No. I can persuade you to do bad as well as good. We have become a world of sheeple. It is important that we learn to analyze and question all of the information we are given and arrive at our own decisions other than following the platform of others. All the best. Bob

May 15 2012: Persuation is an important function of human nature, it is about creating messages that are expressly intended to shape opinions.Without persuation there will be no cultural dynamism, no peace agreements between nations, and there will be no fund-raising efforts by charities and philanthropic organizations. However, persuasive words should be carefully recieved and weighed so that propaganda and indoctrination will not be cloaked as persuasion.Persuasion should be ethical, the keyword is 'not being selfish and dishonest' in the presentation of our point of view.It may be difficult because we may be pressured by our ideas and goals, but it is not impossible.

May 15 2012: To add to my point, is it acceptable for high level decisions to be made based on persuasive arguments and not knowledge or experience?

May 15 2012: what i think is when you wanna make a high level decision which involves approval from a group or from people who are closely involved in the decision process you need to play a role of persuasive agent when people oppose your credentials of decision making.
and i think you can better play a role of persuasive agent when you have knowledge which is biased to the decision. even experience is required to make people agree to what you are trying to say or create a critical acclaim!!

May 14 2012: This is actually talking about the correct moment to switch from one to another. But just to get closer to the solution, then I think there are some priorities in life.

I labeled it, the first as safety pointer, and the 2nd is comfort (satisfaction, excitement, etc)

It's like head & tail. Head is the safety and tail is the comfort. When we are moving the comfort at the highest percentages, and continuously, it will be passed back to the head, ended at the "safety".

If persuasive has not reached the head, and the problem has been completed, so persuasive has been successfully carrying out its mission.

But when persuasive unsuccessfully played its role, and the problem still exists, then here is the scenario:

    - there is no sign of a security threat (tail is still far away from head), but suddenly the journey of "persuasive" has reached the end of the "safety", then nature will create a chaos that threatens the safety, so we must assume has reached the head, and we may act with less persuasive and more dominant.

The point is, it's difficult to determine when, whether we still have to persuade or not. Require more experience and wisdom. But there is other thing that I want to state here that: all attitudes have limits. And when we persist to a certain attitude to excess (consciously or not), then nature will create a counterpoint to establish the balance point (which in fact it is a part of a cycle)

When nature created an equilibrium, suddenly the process accept the opposite as reasonable choice easily.

It's the power of equilibrium (act by nature).

We just have to place our purposes at specific moment, where our purposes have similarity with the opposite of saturation point, and it will let us give a simple suggestion, and everything will go according to our suggestion.

It's a rare opportunity, but worth to try it as an added persuasive energy (bonus) for our effort.

    Less or more ...

May 14 2012: Effectively crafted persuasive language and images are often used to sell us things that the seller wants us to buy or accept but that are not in our best interest.
