Evolution of sexes are the result of bifurcation of chaotic system called life.

Chaos theory is concept which implies that dynamical system which are deterministic (having finite numeber of states and depends only on the initial condition of the system) are unpredictable by nature.
The characterstics of a dynamical system to be considered as chaotic are
1. it must be sensitive to initial conditions;
2. it must be topologically mixing; and
3. its periodic orbits must be dense.
Refer Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_theory

Here are some patterns that connect the chaos theory with evolution
An interesting characeristic associated with chaotic systems are patterns called strange attractors , bifurcation and period doubling.
In these charecterstic, the chaotic systems becomes less chaotic in certain region of the phase space( set of all possible states of a system)
Another pattern associated with chaos is the fractal nature. The bifurcation often has a fractal pattern.
The ideas connecting chaos theory and evolution are
1. The phenomenon of life is deterministic
2. It is sensitive to initial condition
3. Evolution of life is fractal
4. The path taken by evolution never overlap.

In the lights of these, we can also see there is a pattern of bifurication happeing in the life process. Organisms evolve over time in to two sexes(genetically close, but morphologically different forms).
The observations supporting this are
1. Evolution process is mostly in the change in DNA.
2. Sensitivity of the morphogenesis of organisms to initial conditions(the DNA).
3. Sensitivity of the sexual dimorphism of organisms to initial conditions(X,Y chromosome region of the DNA)
4. Large number of iterations over time to support bifurcation(the evolutionary timeline is of the order of billions of years).
5. The evolutionary process tries to takes all forms(phase space of the life process) based on the change in DNA(initial condition)
6. The number of sexes tends to attract to two(strange attractors and bifurcation?).

May 6 2012: Thank you for responding to my comment. To continue, if what you say, that life is a 'simple repetitve process' of a fractal growth of cells, the results hardly seem simple. Through our observation we can see cells and their behavior. We don't know why they behave the way they do, but we look at cell behavior as reactions to impulses, probably electrical or gravitational. If their repetition is really just fractal, then how is there such an evolutionary variety? How did cells, from a chaotic beginning, 'fractally' reproduce in such consistent variety and complexity? And then why is there no more than 2 sexes? As you can see, I am not a scientist or geneticist, but I find these discussions very interesting. So please bare with me...

May 7 2012: Life is not simple. But it was comparatively simpler. That is the whole point of chaos theory, that complex behavior can emerge from simple equations such as z = z^2 + c. Thus in our case, though we don't know the simple equation governing the process of life. But we already simplified it by figuring out the role of a molecular sequence genetic code in DNA. These rules must have been much much simpler at the beginning of life. And what we see today is after billions of iterations(imagine the lifespan of bacteria).

To clarify, there are organisms like fungus which have more than 2 sexes, but those are rare compared to the entire tree of life.
Am neither a scientist, I am qualified as an Electronics and Instrumentation engineer. But I am a free man, exploring the technology, resource and time we are getting today. Appreciate your enthusiasm. But the difference in morphology is high in organisms which are more complex like humans.
If the association with chaotic system is confirmed, I wish to find out the basic equation governing the whole complexity of life.

May 16 2012: Let us look deeper into evolution. The theory does not take the responsibility of stating how life originated. It delegates that to the theory of the “Big Bang”, which states that all matter in the universe was somehow contained in a very small dense hot atom, molecule, or singularity, which exploded into all
the elements and celestial bodies of the universe, about 16 billion years ago.
2.Search Further : Cosmologists and physicists have determined that there are thousands of unrelated scientific formula's and exact requirements, like the strength of electromagnetic forces vs gravitational forces in atoms, the size of the neutron vs the proton, the electron's size, the age and size of the sun, the position of the sun in the Milky Way, the shape and size of the Milky Way, the existence of supernovas that create and distribute the heavy elements necessary for DNA formation, the distance of the Earth from the sun, the shape of its orbit etc that all need to be almost exactly as they are for atoms to be able to join into large molecules and for the conditions for life and for life itself to eventually exist. Also, this whole sequence of events had to take place in a certain
    order, for life to exist.[Ref 3.See Origins-Current Debates-Evolution-Creation-]

May 18 2012: Thank you for your comment
Before going to deeper philosophical aspects of origin of life and its evolution, I would prefer to look at the smaller tangible phenomenon like our subject. Why this will be an interesting study is that, we have data(fossil records, genetic information of species and knowledge about how these work). I am interested in looking at it in a different perspective. Chaos theory is incredibly interesting in its universality. You can apply it to the big bang and the dynamics of a liquid in a tea cup.

  • May 7 2012: Wow what a topic. As of now it is only entertaining to me as naïve as that sounds but nonetheless I would love to learn more about it like the basics. I wish I had input obviously what I say would only stand as ignorant. I do hope the next time you write something I find the time to read it. Hopefully by then I would have enough knowledge for an input and a perspective. thanks again..................

May 5 2012: So, what I gather from you explanation is that even 'chaos theory' has a plan. It's results are limited to its initial state and it has built in 'tendencies'. That's why we have only two sexes. Very interesting. Is it possible, in your opinion, that that as a result of these 'tendencies' and the fractal nature of growth, that life and it's components seek relationship to each other?

May 5 2012: The chaos theory is a hot research topic. Observations are that chaotic systems are predictable. But there are too complex systems which are difficult to predict. Here we are exploring parallels between observed chaotic systems with biological life.
Fractal nature is observed in many areas of life. The evolutionary tree of life is fractal like structure. Our body is a fractal pattern formed from cells. Fractal in the sense simple repetitive processes. Even the entire development of life is simple repetitive process. Birth-reproduction-death. We just don't have a good mathematical model of an organism.
The parallel between chaotic systems and life is that, something as complex as human body evolved from repetitive process of DNA/RNA like molecule replication. We are dealing with very abstract concept. But the similarities are striking.
