Get involved in the Civic Data Challenge and turn raw data of “civic health" into beautiful, useful apps + visualizations 2 help communities
The first-ever Civic Data Challenge (http://bit.ly/civdata) launched in April at the Data 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. The Challenge is a project of NCoC (the National Conference on Citizenship) and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
The Challenge will turn the raw data of “civic health" into beautiful, useful applications and visualizations, enabling communities to be better understood and made to thrive. NCoC is opening up its data, as well as other data on the important topics of health, safety, education, and the economy. You are invited to collaborate with others, analyze the data, and submit something amazing by July 29 to showcase what you find.
Designers, data scientists, researchers, and app developers are especially encouraged to join the challenge. And … there will be prizes!
