Non Alcoholic Whisky?

I enjoy a refreshing Non alcoholic beer, The evening gets no better with a non alcoholic glass of red wine and a good book, Is there a study going on for us Cowboys who cannot tolerate alcohol and would love an ocassional shot of non alcoholic whisky?

    Apr 26 2012: I don't know if there is this specific study going on but ... it should. We have this bizarre notion that drinks must contain alcohol to be enjoyable. How hard can it be to concoct drinks that are refreshing, interesting, profound, i.e. all things that we get from good quality whisky, wine etc.

    The snag is, I think, that non-alcoholic quality drinks are not addictive and commercially less attractive than their alcoholic cousins.

    Incidentally, taking alcohol out of a drink doesn't do the trick, it kills the drink. The drink's formula needs to be completely redesigned to work. Alcohol free beer took years to become a decent drink.

      Apr 28 2012: I enjoyed your reply. I have enjoyed beer, wine and whisky for the last 47 yrs. and just lately I was advised by my Doctor to give it up. This is a hard thing to do, but I had my first glass of non-alch wine the other day and loved it. I had my first non-alch Coors tonight and it was as refreshing as reg. beer. Six months ago I too would have said "Whats the point" but I am now singing a diffrent tune.

        Apr 28 2012: Interesting, I've been slowing down on the alcohol for the past 10 years because it was affecting my health and mind. What frustrates me is that there are so few interesting drinks. Not drinking alcohol doesn't bother me. But having to drink fizzy water is very boring. Only tea seems to provide a large choice.
