How can we use technology to solve traffic related issues ?

    Apr 23 2012: I think there are 3ways to tackle this
    - technology to manage the traffic ( timing the signals/rework work hours to ease traffic/)
    - technology to manage the people ( train/educate/routes/alternate routes/lane discipline)
    - technology for the city planners, give them tools which tells them how to plan the city/roads/drainage/flyovers/

    I think 2/1 are easier
    But option 3 is really mandatory. Currently there is no accountability for the planners. I think the countries topmost brains should actually work on this problem - the IIT/ IIM/ IAS likes, this is because the entire economy of a country ( fuel, stress, transportation, inflation ) etc depend totally on infrastructure.
