Why can't learn to listen to both our hearts and minds, instead of only listening to one?

As human beings, we tend to listen to our hearts all the time, why cant we balance out the two? Descions may then be easier if we know how to handle them

  • Apr 22 2012: I think the mind creates this duality. In reality it is the same logic that is driving us to think that there should be something better than me ( mind ). At the same time it makes us think as a heart and say the mind is a lesser ( as in bad ) version of me. The truth is at a much higher level of cognition and appears when we silence the mind. But immediate question that your mind puts is, but is it possible to maintain this state for long. The answer is to just realize this and smile at yourself :)

Had a post on this lines long back.

Apr 17 2012: Dee, what a great question.

    And, what a dilenma!

Our heart is treacherous, who can understand it?

But our mind, oh the mind can be trained.......I remember once listening to a talk on the conscience. He said that many times the heart calls the brain....and tells it what it wants to do....and the brain proceeds to hang up the phone and not listen to the conversation.

The two can be balanced, but it takes a bit of work.

I am sure I have some quotes, and notes from talks and articles I have read on the matter, I will come back and contribute later.

    Great Question!!

we will be in an endless war with ourselves.

    One has to be stronger,
    Heart - Feeling
    Mind - Logic

different times we use different approaches
