How do you turn a seemingly impossible idea into reality? Where to start?

I guess my main question and curiosity is with regards to where how and what is the starting point of turning an idea into reality.
For example there are some big names out there that managed to build an empire so my question is what exactly is the starting point? How do you know if your idea is good and appealing to the public?

    Mar 27 2012: I'm not quite sure about those people that managed to build an empire, but I want to share a few thoughts I obtain from turning an idea into reality on my own. Two days ago I was troubling about what to prepare for my best friend's upcoming 18th birthday, then I got the crazy idea that I will gather birthday blessings from people all over the world for her. I laughed at myself when I first thought of it, but then I realized that maybe I can actually do it. I went on to every social network services that I know, created an online events, started spreading news to everyone I see. Now I'm here to tell you that I have sent over a thousand emails to over a thousand people and asked for their help, I have received over three hundred responses, and I made a website where I uploaded all the photos they sent to me. All of these start from an seemingly impossible idea of mine, just three days ago. It is not a huge achievement, but it is certainly something remarkable of doing. I guess everything you can think of can be done, you just need to be brave enough. Also you need to keep an eye on every possible opportunities.

    The most succesful business are those ho really help people. If people need clothes, like online movies or want to be wealthy there are companies that help in that.

    Mar 29 2012: For every 'empire' built from an idea, 100,000 more ideas were never acted upon. Often times the public doesn't know what it wants or will accept. Believe it or not, there was a time when people didn't know they needed a microwave oven or a cell phone. But now can't live without them. I think we know ideas are 'good' if we not only think of them, but 'know' deep within it'll work. We 'know' it's right without thinking about it. The famous old Thomas Edison adage that 'he figured out 10,000 ways NOT to make a light bulb...' was more of a statement about his critics than anything. Sure, it helps if you have talented people on your side, and more than a little 'luck', but in my opinion, more than anything you need unrelenting desire to make your idea into reality. Go 4 it.
  • Mar 28 2012: Indeed agreed on the networking part but what if people are not ready for a futuristic idea? how do you sell that, how do you sell something that you cannot put a price to it just yet but in the near future it will most likely become a common thing? so does this mean that not having a price tag just yet it automatically becomes worthless?

    Mar 27 2012: It depends on the idea. If it's a product or service idea, then the steps are fairly well established, although you'll want to make sure you've accessed the very latest version of what those steps are. In the publishing world, the steps seem to change dramatically every 6 months or so, so it's going to depend on the industry you're approaching as well. That said, there are plenty of people making good money publishing roadmaps to success in literally every kind of endeavor you decide to take on. Just Google around and make sure you check the date of the article or blog. Anything over a year old should be avoided.

    If your idea isn't a product or a service, then you need to determine whether anyone else can ever make a dime off it for themselves. If not, then forget enlisting any help with your idea. Seriously. If something can't make someone else money, save them money, make them popular, make them prettier or more handsome, or help them take off the pounds and keep them off, then it can't be sold. And if it can't be sold, then walk off on it.

    I literally uncovered the true substructure of physical reality and through that, accurately revealed the true nature of humanity and it's place within physical reality, and while you'd think that publishing this information would have the world beating a path to my door, the truth is that there's no money to be made off this information. In fact, it threatens a multi-trillion dollar global industry, and directly challenges the basic belief system of every person on this planet - from religionists to physicists. So it's completely worthless as an idea - even though it's got all the bells and whistles you'd ever want any idea to have.

    This is a consumer driven world. If it won't sell, then it's worthless. You can claim that it's priceless, and maybe it is, but worthless is the same as priceless if no one will pay for it.
  • Mar 27 2012: Ya agreed on the believing part but that goes without saying. I believe in my idea but might not be enough. Sometimes you need significant amount of funding to make it happen. So I wonder how does one attack such an idea? Where do we start?
    Maybe I am just too impatient?

    Mar 27 2012: Starting point... 110% believe in your idea first!! This believing shall come from the benefit of our world's perspective and not from our "own". In case your believe starts like, this idea is wonderful and it will make me famous or I may amass good wealth, there are chances that you "may" fail, but if you believe, that yes this plan will surely add something valuable to make this world better, you are bound to succeed. Personal rewards will follow later..
