what is light?

i have been taught that light is made up of small bundles or packets of energy. what i am not able to understand is that is it light whole sole one entity? or it is an entity madeup of the bundles like a body is made up of cells.

secondly, the speed of light is the maximum...or due to light we observe time, due to light we see objects or everything.

how can one comprehend light completely?

Mar 19 2012: Light is the electro-chemical energy form which enables the sense of vision in living beings. The eye is one of the brain's sensors used to gather information about ambient conditions. Albert Einstein theorized that light energy actually consists in the form of traveling particles, called photons. Prior to Einstein light was thought to propagate in waves of varying frequency. Neither theory has been exclusively adopted by modern science.

Mar 19 2012: so we dont know the exact definition of light.... with unanimity?

Mar 19 2012: Ahhh. You seek that elusive condition called unanimity? The American Heritage Dictionary of Science defines light as: "A form of radiant energy consisting of electromagnetic waves that travel freely through space. . . etc." As far as waves or particles, or both, the jury is still out.

          Mar 20 2012: thanks edward.

would you please tell me that if we consider any nature of light, the theory of relativity is applicable?
